Thank You to the Granite Fire Committee

Thank you to the Granite Fire Committee for contributing $3500 towards a trailer and equipment for the Granite Hills and Cape Copper Mine area fire protection group. The committee is made up of a member from each of Cape Coppermine Association, Granite Hills Estates Home Owners Association, Rivers Edge Association, as well as home owner reps from Blue Heron, Widgeon Row and Osprey Crescent in addition to the Granite Rec Park.

The contribution allowed us to receive a fire skid generously donated by Global Medic to the RM of Lac Du Bonnet. The equipment will be located at the Granite Rec Park during the fire season where it is available to be used by individuals that have received training on it’s operation. A training session was held this fall at the town fire hall where we received instructions from the Deputy Fire Chief and John Fleming.

We expect to hold additional training sessions again in the spring at the Granite Rec Park. In addition we hope to raise some additional funds which will allow us to purchase a couple of back pack sprayer units to add to the trailer.

I would also like to thank Debbie Clement the Treasurer of The Granite Hills Estates Home Owners association for her hard work in helping to coordinate the collection of funds from the individuals and associations.
